June 3rd 2008

The day i was born, of course 21 yrs back!!!
I've always wondered wats so extraordinary about turning 21. Being a person who doesn't favour odd numbers, my curiosity was more inevitable (well, it was inevitable coz my 21st B'day was nearing!). But the fact that I'm a lazy peson has not let me probe into the matter. And now after crossing 21, I really wouldn wanna dig into the sources, especially wen my 21st birthday turned out to be more than special.

Ever wondered how a person could have gone through 20 yrs of unenjoyable birthdays?? Ask me :)...!! Having a birthday which falls on the first week of June, most of my birthdays were unnoticed by friends, spent on summer vacation in my nativ village during school days.

If I'm not wrong, only twice I've actually celebrated my birthday. The second B'day was a simple one at my dad's village with relatives around. Yes, I never celebrated my first birthday. :( I remember not a thing, save the old snaps that gave a vague idea how it would have gone.

My 17th birthday was with my close friends (the gang) from school. A quite one in a coffee shop.. where we had everythin else but coffee!! We still do the same.
It was more lik a farewell after 12th. Anyway, that counts for celebration even though it lasted for merely an hour.

Apart from these, my b'days were silent in the midst of the scenic village, a couple of times a home made cake from my favourite aunt. (thank you chithi!!!)

The scenario din't brighten up wen I got into college. Infact, it was only worse. :(
During college, June is the month scheduled for even semester exams and the worst of the modules found its place conveniently on June 3rd! :'( Waaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!! Need i say anymore?)

After all this... its not that I really have had unmemorable B'days nor did it seem to be so special to me. Its jus that jus once I wanted to hav a real birthday! lik a party... with lots of friends, big cake, lots of food, lots of games... and to enjoi till night falls! And especially GIFTS!! (most important in a b'day.. aint it???)

And it took 21 years to hav one such birthday!(minus the kiddie games...lol). And it was probably only because I graduated and was all set to leave to S'pore, my birthday was the right time for a get together.

I was all girly girly wearing clothes from Marks & Spencers gifted from family friends. And I would die for that chocolate cake that my cousin sis got. It was super yummy and to let the secret out, I was very greedy and din't want anybody else to have the cake, :)
All my relatives in Chennai came over and most of my friends came, though a few important people were missing.

I wouldn exaggerate that it was a dream came true day... but I was very satisfied that "yeah... for once I've had a normal birthday".

21 was indeed very special to me... apart from the fact that I'm a year older carrying responsiblities and independancy and all set to experience a new phase of life away from home, the celebration actually made me feel special with a family to hold on and friends to treasure. Wat better life could one get than the life with the loved ones?? Cheers 21!!!!
